STORYLINE STUDIO URBAN NEWS TEAM



This is a job opportunity that requires 15 hours of work per week and pays $15/hour. Participants will undergo training performed by lead instructors that will cover the roles and responsibilities of each member.

Storyline is looking to assemble an urban news team to deliver news stories and information in an online news series format. We are seeking participants ages 18-30 to fill a variety of positions (West Side residents preferred/Journalism/Media students preferred).

Participants will be allowed to work remotely when deemed appropriate, however all recording will take place either in our studio or at a designated location.

Everyone’s health is our number one priority! Our aim is to make everyone from staff to participants feel safe and secure when visiting our facility. Masks are required at all times, our capacity is limited, and we require hand sanitizing and a temperature check upon arrival. We sanitize all equipment frequently and thoroughly, enforce social distancing guidelines.

SEGMENT PRODUCER



Produces one or more segments of a multi-segment news show. Schedule interviews with guests, review scripts, scouting locations, and collaborate with crew members to create a seamless viewing experience.





• Comprehensive knowledge of techniques for shooting, editing and video production.

• Creative skills along with ability to develop interesting features and present them in visually appealing ways that pleases audiences.

• Familiar with applications such as Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, and Final Cut Pro.

• Knowledge of operating some production equipment like cameras, microphones, lighting equipment, ladders, and audio equipment.


• Must have good organizational skills and be able to work well in a team environment.

VIDEO EDITOR



Assemble recorded footage into a finished project that matches the producers’ vision and is suitable for broadcasting.
Ultimately, as a Video Editor, you should be able to bring sight and sound together in order to tell a cohesive story.





• Review shooting script and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scenes’ value and contribution to continuity.

• Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the film.

• Input music, dialogues, graphics, colors, and effects. Create rough and final cuts.

• Ensure logical sequencing and consistency.


• Consult with producers from production to post-production process.


• Familiar with Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, Final Cut Pro.

ON-AIR/FIELD REPORTER



Collect information on assigned topics to report accurate and timely news. Talk to sources, follow-up on leads, and do research to be as well informed as possible. Good public speaking skills required.






  • Accept and investigate story assignments.


  • Perform field research and conduct interviews.


  • Record on-camera segments discussing relevant topics.
